Standup notes

Daily standup notes, newest first. Claude Code writes yesterday from your commits; ChatGPT or Claude from what you tell it.

For developers who'd rather not reconstruct yesterday from memory at 9:58.

The note after a few days of talking to your AI. Tinted lines are what it added, the way Amber Notes shows an AI's changes, with Undo and the earlier version kept in the note's history.

What the prompt does

Your AI creates a note called “Standup notes” in your Work folder, or finds the one you already have, and learns how to keep it. Yesterday, today and blockers, one section a day, newest first. Claude Code can write yesterday from your commits.

Paste it once into a chat in ChatGPT or Claude with Amber Notes turned on, or into Claude Code.

Then just talk to it

  • Write today's standup.
  • What was I blocked on last week?
  • Summarize my standups since Monday for the sprint review.

For ChatGPT or Claude

First, look for a note called "Standup notes" in my Amber Notes with search_notes. If there isn't one, create it with create_note in the folder "Work", using exactly the markdown at the end of this message, the <!-- pane-table --> line included (it gives the table's columns their types). Then: Use my Amber Notes note "Standup notes". Each morning I'll tell you what I did yesterday and what's next. Add a section at the start of "Days" with append_to_note (at_start): a "###" heading with today's date, then Yesterday, Today and Blockers as short bullets. Anything blocked also goes under "Blockers"; when I say it's unblocked, remove it with edit_note.

Then: Write today's standup into my Amber Notes note "Standup notes". Run git log --since=yesterday --author="$(git config user.email)" --oneline in this repo, turn the commits into two to five plain-language bullets (no hashes), and ask me what's next and what's blocking me. Then add a section at the start of "Days" with append_to_note (at_start): a "###" heading with today's date, then Yesterday, Today and Blockers. Anything blocked also goes under "Blockers".

The note you start with

This is what the prompt creates in Amber Notes: an ordinary note with the headings ready. Your AI fills it in from there, and you can still edit every line yourself.
